New Big Dada signing Offshore presents the second edition of the Bonafide mix series (now officially known as Bonafide Beats, ya hear) and what a heady mix it is.
The Aberdeen born beatmaker throws together a combination of populist hip-hop (T-Pain, Missy Elliot), modern indie electronica; Hudson Mohawke, label mates Thunderheist and Thavius Beck (featuring the excellent Offshore remix for Go), a dab of grime (Terrah Danjah and Trim) and even a couple of West Coast cuts featuring Kurupt, whose solipsistic rap sounds delightfully menacing over Quik’s snap and the general wonky bleeps of the mix.
In short Offshore has given birth to a beautiful monster, as metallic and shiny as it is apocalyptic, dirty and fucked up. Hmmm, nice.

BOOMKAT SAYS:
“Monkeysteak’s long threatened Steakhouse Records finally precipitates it’s debut load with two tracks of hybrid dub-techno/2-step from Portuguese producers. Mr Gasparov hails from Lisbon and apparently uses a synth made from an old McDonalds till point, togther with graphics tablets and Midi-Controllers to manufacture a jumpy blend of hard-hitting subs and technoid 2-step on ‘1975′, think El-B meets Aphex Twin under a tropical sky. On the flip Octapush fuse UK Garage with skittering electronica and chanted tribal vocals on ‘Ai Nadia’, and itchin’ 2-step with female vocals on ‘Laika Likes It’. One for the rave, Dave, and fans of Untold, Atki2 or Bass Clef. Sick twelve!”
