Suckafish P Jones “Phantasmatica!”[dboot007] Net LP - Oct 2009
Phantasmatica! builds on the grimey energy of the first Suckafish EP, ‘Mr Cloak and Dagger’. With four brand-new tracks of rumbling bass and primitve drums, Suckafish continues to pervert the boundaries of contemporary club music. Recorded and developed while touring Japan, Europe and Central America, Phantasmatica! screws, chops and bumps its way through a swampland of sub soundscapes and sweaty rhythms. This is mutant music for a dancehall at the end of the world - urgent, sexyand a little bit scary..
Psych-heavy tropical bass music, drawing from recordings and snippets of Suckafish’s globesquat of 2008. Something to vibrate your face - twisting hints of cumbia, dubstep, hip hop and serious caveman pulse shit. Released on DisBooT´s web site in Oct 21st.
Vv.Aa “Poble Nou”[dboot006] Net LP - Sep 2009
Poble Nou is the 6th release from DisBooT and gets the mutation of young artists as Amph aka The Gardener, Cauto, Das Nevez, Drome, Dr.Res, Emmerson, Mr.Gasparov, Nehuen and Uxuka*, towards an hybrid between UK garage, dubstep and techno. A reintepretation of the continuum hardcore in bcn.
This album is a tribute to this neighborhood mistreated by the pre/postolimpic speculation and other high-urban plans, and nevertheless, it has motivated an explosion of creativity in the last years in Barcelona.
Manintheattic “Aztarna”[dboot005] Free Net EP - Jul 2009
C156 “c156″[dboot004] Net EP - Apr 2009
C156, Barcelona’s bassline masters. The bastard child of four young catalan producers – C156 is the subwoofer-eating monster formed like Voltron from the combined efforts of Cauto, The Gardner, Dr Res and Drome. With respective histories in dubstep, jungle, house and hip hop, C156 presents their debut for Disboot full of music that takes from and defies limitations to any of these genres.
Offshore “Black destroyer hill”[dboot003] 7″ - Oct 2009
Offshore - presenting a new talent from the mean streets of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Offshore releases his debut single with Disboot recordings, the ‘Black Destroyer Hill’. Screwing together pulverating drums and wonky synthesizers, Offshore’s unique mix of hip hop, metal and aquacrunk set him apart from your standard beatmakers. From the lopey halfstep beats of ‘Black Destroyer Hill’ and the urgent dynamics of ‘Simsalabim’ this disc is tremoring with shockwaves of minimalistic hip hop riddims, cut apart by abrasive, metalic basslines and squashed synths.
Fans of Rustie, Jamie Vex’d and Hudson Mohawke will be grovelling at the heels of this burning hot disc, with it’s 3/4 circle hole sleeve designed and die cut by Offshore himself.
Filastine “hungry ghosts (Cauto rmx)”[dboot002] 7″ - Oct 2009
The Third release from DisBooT, Barcelona’s subsonic flagship.
Filastine, globetrotting percussive beat-master and thrower of dirty bombs, presents ‘Hungry Ghosts’ perhaps the finest cut from his album ‘Dirty Bomb’, in a delicious collectable 7″ format for Disboot recordings. With fellow Disbooter Cauto working the B-Side remix, this release carries much more weight than it’s small format might suggest.
‘Hungry Ghosts’ eeks out of the speaker with stretched and warped melodies atop pumelling, percussive bass and drums. Filastine cuts, copies and mutilates the beat around the rapid fire vocals of Australian Wire MC, and Japan’s ECD to craft a song that transcends region and language to create something hybrid, global and incredibly danceable. Cauto’s remix re-dresses the song for the dancefloor, twisting the staccato riddims of the orifinal into a ghetto-tech / acid-tech sesnibility, guaranteed to ignite dancefloors from here to Timbuctoo.
When the going gets wierd, the wierd turn pro…
Cauto “Despertar”[dboot001] Free Net EP - Jan 2009
“Pau Encinas Laffitte ha sido el primer productor de la escena barcelonesa en hacerse eco del sonido dubstep británico. Sus trabajos, publicados primero en el sello de DJ/Rupture, Dutty Artz, Dubkraft o en Disboot y Dicontinu Records (de los cuales es también co-fundador), mezclan bajos profundos con sonidos cálidos y bailables que sumergen al oyente en un mar de ritmos rotos y contundentes.“
Vv.Aa “Lost & found”[dboot000] CD / Free Net LP - Dec 2008
