Vamos dosificando la publicación de los lives y djsets del Fun Dub 2009, mas que nada para que con tanta saturación de información se saborée mejor la dosis sonora homeopática recomendada.
Seguimos con la idea de ir publicando los directos y dj mixes grabados en el Festival FunDub en Mayo de 2009 en versión podcast.
En esta ocasión presentamos a Volatil como exponente del dub electrónico en Barcelona en su vertiente mas techno/dubstep. Liveset de producción propia donde se distingue su trayectoria entre los sonidos reggae-roots.
About Volatil: Volatil is a project made by Nicolás Hardmeier and Federico De Gennaro, born in Argentina and based in Barcelona. Is an hibrid between a live set and a dj session mixing dub, reggae and electronic music. Simple and effective, with strong riddims, deep dub bass lines, a lots of effects and energic vocals. Volatil was born in 2003 in Barcelona when Nicolás started producing his own tracks and inviting some musicians friends to participate in the project. This was the begining of the Volatil sound. That year he started touring around Europe as a member of Go Lem System (www.golemsystem.com) doing the drums secuences and djing with ableton live. After 3 years of touring and recording 2 cd s with the band and with many tracks produced in his computer, he decides to start playing live with Volatil. It was then when he met Federico and his vocals gave the colour that the music was waiting. Mixing electronic music with other styles like reggae and ska they do an hibrid performance ( between a dj session and a live act), a non stop concert where all the songs are part of a big dub. Now working also with Satta B, a dj from Bristol, playing a session and giving a dubstep sound to the Project.
FunDUB reúne en 3 días de actividades artísticas los ecos de la escena Dub de Barcelona. Más de 30 creadores “audio y visuales” muestran en diversos espacios del barrio de Poblenou de Barcelona su reinterpretación (y apropiación) del dub, que en los últimos años se ha regenerado en variantes como el dubstep, el breakstep o el minimal dub.
FunDUB concibe el Dub como una especial manera de relacionarse con la ciudad. Una ciudad de la que el creador absorbe ritmos, imágenes y sonidos y los transforma en beats, delays y melodías.
FundDUB is a meeting along 3 days with the echoes from dub scene in Barcelona. More than 30 artists will show at La Fundicion ( Poble Nou ) their apropiation and reinterpretation of dub, genre that in the last years has been regenerated in forms like dubstep, breakstep, wonky or minimaldub.
