Bebiendo de la música negra y el folk, e influenciados por el house y la bass music, los cuatro tracks de este EP consiguen captar la atención desde el primer momento, gracias a la habilidad que Cauto tiene para crear complejas melodías, trazar lineas de bajo profundas y acompañarlo de delicados ritmos dinámicos y nada repetitivos. Desde el luminoso y repleto de aires funk “Far From You”, hasta el cautivador “8″, creado con sentimiento y mostrando su faceta de violinista con un solo, Cauto nos brinda una referencia detallista que invita a ser escuchada repetidas veces, por su coherencia y su riqueza de matices, siempre al margen de todo lo demás.
Verá la luz el 19 de Diciembre en formato digital, y ha sonado en el programa “Music Response” de Mary Anne Hobbs en la emisora Xfm y captado la atención de artistas como Ruckspin, Hxdb, Bunzer0 o Cardopusher entre otros.

‘We make hits, not the public’ is the second episode of Downliners sekt’s trilogy with barcelonan bass music label Disboot Records in co-production with the band’s own label dsekt[dot]com.
This, their sixth official release, is the second installment of a trilogy started a few months ago with the critically acclaimed ‘Hello lonely, hold the nation’ EP which since its release in May 2010 has received wide spread support. From radio bass evangelists like Mary anne Hobbs and Rob Booth (both of them have commissioned exclusive mixes for their respective shows); to prestigious record stores like Sounds of the Universe and Boomkat (receiving category of single of the week on both places); having being reviewed by The Wire, Resident Advisor, Playgroundmag.net and many others magazines and webzines. The record has also received massive support from different artists around the world, among them The Bug (King Midas Sound), Kid Kameleon, François K and Hollywood movie director Darren Aronofsky.

Suckafish P Jones “Mr.Midnight” [dboot011]12″ - Oct 2010
“Suckafish P. Jones, the self-proclaimed ringmaster of voodoo electronics, returns to evil up your soundsystem with his second EP for Disboot records, ‘Mr Midnight’. Released on 12″ vynil for Disboot Records, Suckafish summons up four tracks of jagged robot funk from the depths of the swamp. Perverting the tropes and conventions of Uk Garage, Grime and hip hop, ‘Mr Midnight’ combines pulsing low end rhythms with possessive melodies to create a soundtrack to that full moon night that never ends. Sleazy, emotional, violent and ecstatic at the same time, Suckafish’s latest offering maintains his reputation for productions that ignite the dance with raw, infectious energy and humour.”>
The opening “1,2,3 OINK” takes dark melodies and pensive piano stabs and wedges them between rhythms alternating between hilariously phat bassline house sensibilities and half step pressure. The most sinister track on the EP, beats and bass are twisted and ground into buckwild mayhem.
“Can a leprous be trendy?” tests all dancefloor hipsters to stand still with a maniac beat that literally threatens to fall apart as it pummels through its rapidfire rhythm changes and lfo abuse. Constantly rising and falling, the track is unpredictable and surprising, commanding you to move parts of your body you never knew existed.
Ending with the current crowd favourite, “Latin Mayhem”, c156 take their latin musical lineage into the bass music fold with their tongue planted firmly in their cheek. Utilising a plethora of samples from various salsa riddims, this track is straight dancefloor fire that will have you pounding the floorboards or rolling on them in hysterics. Never content with gimmicks, the track maintains the signature c156 attention to detail and ridiculously heavy subsonics, something for heads and dancers alike.
Full of wobbling bass, dancefloor murdering 4/4 rhythms and an overriding sense of humour, this is a perfect addition for the crate for those 3am peaks in the club.
