OFFSHORE NEW MIX!!!

New Big Dada signing Offshore presents the second edition of the Bonafide mix series (now officially known as Bonafide Beats, ya hear) and what a heady mix it is.

The Aberdeen born beatmaker throws together a combination of populist hip-hop (T-Pain, Missy Elliot), modern indie electronica; Hudson Mohawke, label mates Thunderheist and Thavius Beck (featuring the excellent Offshore remix for Go), a dab of grime (Terrah Danjah and Trim) and even a couple of West Coast cuts featuring Kurupt, whose solipsistic rap sounds delightfully menacing over Quik’s snap and the general wonky bleeps of the mix.

In short Offshore has given birth to a beautiful monster, as metallic and shiny as it is apocalyptic, dirty and fucked up. Hmmm, nice.

Filastine - Hungry Ghosts ( Cauto Rmx )[dboot002] 7 “
26.10.2009
The Third release from DisBooT, Barcelona’s subsonic flagship.
Filastine, globetrotting percussive beat-master and thrower of dirty bombs, presents ‘Hungry Ghosts’ perhaps the finest cut from his album ‘Dirty Bomb’, in a delicious collectable 7″ format for Disboot recordings. With fellow Disbooter Cauto working the B-Side remix, this release carries much more weight than it’s small format might suggest.
‘Hungry Ghosts’ eeks out of the speaker with stretched and warped melodies atop pumelling, percussive bass and drums. Filastine cuts, copies and mutilates the beat around the rapid fire vocals of Australian Wire MC, and Japan’s ECD to craft a song that transcends region and language to create something hybrid, global and incredibly danceable. Cauto’s remix re-dresses the song for the dancefloor, twisting the staccato riddims of the orifinal into a ghetto-tech / acid-tech sesnibility, guaranteed to ignite dancefloors from here to Timbuctoo.

Offshore - Black Destroyer Hill
28.10.2009
Offshore - presenting a new talent from the mean streets of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Offshore releases his debut single with Disboot recordings, the ‘Black Destroyer Hill’. Screwing together pulverating drums and wonky synthesizers, Offshore’s unique mix of hip hop, metal and aquacrunk set him apart from your standard beatmakers. From the lopey halfstep beats of ‘Black Destroyer Hill’ and the urgent dynamics of ‘Simsalabim’ this disc is tremoring with shockwaves of minimalistic hip hop riddims, cut apart by abrasive, metalic basslines and squashed synths.
Fans of Rustie, Jamie Vex’d and Hudson Mohawke will be grovelling at the heels of this burning hot disc, with it’s 3/4 circle hole sleeve designed and die cut by Offshore himself.+ info
